“Survivor” star to headline Libertarian Party state convention
Wilkes-Barre, PA—The Keynote Speaker at the Saturday April 21 LPPA convention Banquet is Rupert Boneham, star of the popular television show "Survivor," philanthropist and Libertarian Candidate for Governor of Indiana. The entire convention will run from Friday April 20 through Sunday April 22, beginning with a Friday night meet-and-greet with LP presidential candidate and former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson. To register for the convention, please visit
www.LPPA.org and click on the “Happenings” tab. The convention will be held at the Kirby Center for Performing Arts and the Best Western Genetti Hotel and Convention Center, with a limited number of discounted rooms for convention attendees available by calling 570-825-6477. Boneham, who will speak at the convention banquet on Saturday April 21, came into the national spotlight through his successful “Survivor” television appearances and made good on his promise to donate a large portion to create the charitable organization Rupert's Kids, the culmination of 20-plus years of work with at-risk youth. The organization mission is to help those that have become too old for the youth social service system, but are not old enough for the adult social service system. “We teach these youth valuable skills and trades, while also empowering them to discover their inner strengths, passions, and interests," says Boneham.
Saturday’s convention events will be held in conjunction with the “Restoring Freedoms Celebration” that is open to the public and also being held at the Kirby Center venue. A celebration of freedom, the day will include music, workshops and speakers addressing citizen liberty and limited government. Presenters from all political stripes are scheduled with the theme of returning back to the principles that founded the United States. Workshops and informational tables from many different groups and organizations will also be available to the public.
The Libertarian Party is the largest and best alternative for people who want to promote citizen liberty and limited government in both Pennsylvania and the United States. More than 200,000 people across the country are registered Libertarians, and Libertarians serve in hundreds of elected offices. Please visit
