I'm back on this issue again.  For all of you having trouble with IE8, can you try setting your IE8 browser to work in compatibility mode for this site and see if that makes a difference?

I have come to believe that may be the best solution assuming it works.

I have not set my browser to compatibility view but it appears that since you made the repairs, I have not had any problem in typing a full message.

The problem appears to be solved.
