So, what are our distractions from building a political party?

A major distraction is the fact that we keep trying to act like the Republicrats. The 2 party system is a sham and until we accept that we aren't going to get anywhere. This however doesn't have much to do with Orwell versus Huxley. That's a problem for the society at large.

It was Orwell and NOT Huxley that introduced the concept of Big Brother.  It's been a while since I read either book but that much I remember.  As to who was right (or wrong), I can see more of what Orwell predicted in today's society but that, too, has nothing to do with our being detracted from building a political party.

Brave New World and 1984 are not mutually exclusive.  We are suffering the double-whammy of both.

I agree. I would say the drugging of our children and the advertising of prescription drugs is straight out of Brave New World and of course the wars and the surveillance state is pure 1984. By and large we live in Huxley's world because most upper class and upper middle class white people still think we are a free society.
