Hello all,
I've been a lifelong libertarian & even ran for State Senate once. This is why i vote libertarian:

I am a libertarian because libertarians are Communists;
I know that it is best when the people in our communities work hand in hand,
To solve the communities perceived problems;
Are there any problems in your community?
Are you doing anything about it?

I am a libertarian because libertarians are Socialists;
I know that it is best when a society works together to solve its perceived problems;
Do you see any problems in our society?
What are you doing to alleviate the situation?

I am a libertarian because libertarians believe in equality;
I know that we are all on this earth together,
I was born, I am alive, and I will die.
Are you any different?

I am a libertarian because libertarians know that we are not all the same;
I know that my wants and desires are different than yours.
What are your wants and desires?
Please feel free to follow your dreams,
Just don’t lie, cheat, or steal (do any of these and you'll get kicked out of West Point)

Some libertarians trust in themselves,
Other libertarians trust in God,
Still others trust each other,
This libertarian simply accepts REALITY and trusts what he knows is TRUE.
What is your REALITY, and are you telling yourself the TRUTH?

Not all people have this trust,
So when a person fails in being trustworthy,
i trust in a Justice system based on the Reality,
That you can’t read a man’s mind,
But it is possible to find out what a man has done.
And libertarian’s know that inanimate objects do nothing,
until a man has used his WILL to make something happen.

i know that you cannot predict the future,
But you can act as though the future is hear now.
When you walk into that voting booth do you HOPE for a CHANGE?
Why do you vote the same old way?
This libertarian doesn’t know the future,
So I simply leave that up to God’s WILL.
And those are the REASONS why I am a libertarian, and a Muslim.

Libertarians are not perfect though. Nobody is.
Libertarians need to add a few components to their program:
A requirement that all able bodied individuals serve their country
One way or another;
A flat tax, because there is nothing progressive about treating individuals unequally.
And an educational component that will never change, because when you keep changing what you think you know, it confuses the children, and doesn’t help them grow,
Into strong citizens.
Might I suggest that Libertarians take from the Koran to build a just system,
Because in REALITY,
Good men have nothing to fear in the TRUTH.

I know that the only thing that CHANGES in your world is what you HOPE for.
But nothing changes in my world, because I hope for nothing, and know that whatever happens to me – is God’s Will.
And the TRUTH to the REALITY is that…
I trust in God.
What do you trust in?

I am now ready to debate with you all,
are you ready to entertain me?

For the most part I agree with you.  But in what way to you think that Libertarians are communits or socialists?  I find that confusing when I read the remainder of your post.  Let the discussion begin. Smiley

Welcome to the forum, Dan!

I have a question about interest.  I’m under the impression that Muslims oppose the idea of interest payments to creditors who loan money or goods.  I’m also under the impression that Muslims are fully supportive of voluntary trade between any two entities.

I see interest as a type of trade.  For example, I get your $1000 for six months (money and time) and you get $1050 back from me (more than the initial amount of money to compensate for the time you’re without that money).

Before we jump into a debate, please let me know if my initial understanding is flawed or correct.  If correct, is opposition to interest one of those issues that the faithful question and what’s the view on interest as just being a type of voluntary trade?
