Old Business: Nomination papers for our candidates were distributed and since our state chair, Mik Robertson, would like them by July 15, they will be collected at the next meeting here on July 7. It is not necessary to have them completely full or notarized to turn them in.

New Business: Berlie and Vance will submit a proposal to state committee for the 2011 LPPA convention to be held at the Quality Inn in Franklin. T. Russell made the motion and V. Etzel seconded, the motion carried.

V. Mays recommended that we advertise in the PA Gun Owners Assoc. newsletter. P. Fryman moved and C. Morgan seconded, the motion passed. Frymans will write a business card size ad which costs $5/mo with our meeting dates and time.

V. Mays will put out a newsletter before the next meeting and asked candidates to write a message and anyone else that would like information disbursed to email Vance.

We reviewed the platform adopted at the last meeting for the benefit of our new people. V. Mays distributed his candidacy announcement and asked for feedback.

V. Etzel made a motion that since J. Fryman is now Western PA Chair for LPPA, he could step down as Venango Chair and nominated P. Fryman to replace him and J. Fryman to replace Patti as Sec/Treas. T. Russell seconded and the motion passed.

V. Etzel is hosting a web site “Liberty.us” for his campaign for the 5th Congressional Dist. that he will turn over to the party when the election is over.

While we're on the subject, Vernon, could you please put something together regardin yourself as a candidate in the Fifth Congressional District that I can include in the newsletter as soon as possible.  Try to limit it to around 300 words if possible.  I also want to include something about the signature drive, a letter from the chair and a bit about myself as a candidate.

Nice web site Vernon.  A couple of suggestions.  First, your "Liberty and Justice for All" section is so light as to be almost unreadable.  Second, maybe you need to make more of a "splash" on the first page...a picture or two and a major issue that you relly care about.  I know that's easy to say and my web site doesn't do it either.  Still, it's really a good idea.  Another thing to think about is the fact that you make no request for donations.  It's unfortunate, but you can't have a meaningful campaign without money.  I don't like begging for help any more than you do but it's a fact of political life and if we don't play that game we absolutely have no chance of winning or even making a good showing.  If you would like to work together and make both of our sites better give me a call and we'll see what we can do.
