I am looking for volunteers to go to their county seat and obtain a list of registered Libertarians in their county.  According to the Pennsylvania Department of state there are slightly more than 35,000 registered Libertarians in the state.  We currently have names for less than 2000 of thes people.  Most counties offer an electronic disk that contains the names by party at a nominal fee.  If you could download that to your computer and forward it to me I will generate one big list for use by all of us.  If your county does not offer a disk, obtain a hard copy and forward it to me.  Thanks for your help in this matter.

Is there anything we must do to be 'allowed' to get this information, or is any citizen capable of getting this info?

There is no reason for them to withhold public information. In some cases you may be asked to sign documentation tat the information will not be used other than for the purposes of political activity. There may be a fee for copying, but if you are getting it for a county political organization, even for forming one without one established yet, election office staff are usually pretty good about giving it to you. I know our election office will give street lists to candidates.

We could get a copy of the SURE data that would have the whole Commonwealth rather than go county by county. That does cost but I don't know exactly how much. I can look into it.

Your email is over quota.  It's a 16 meg PDF file for Westmoreland County.  I can upload it temporarily to my webserver if need be.  Just don't want to post the link here.

I think we can get the SURE data, which will have all registered voters statewide. That will be much easier than trying to go county by county.

It costs a nominal $20 fee to obtain the state voter's list from BCEL in Harrisburg, it is $20 per county to obtain it from the individual county offices!

I did talk to BCEL, and we have the forms to get the statewide voter registration data. We might as well get the most recent data, that which is updated through the 2009 election, which may not be ready for a couple of months. We can order, and they will send it when it is ready.

Thanks all,

I have already ordered the disk from state and made arrangements to have it scrubbed of Ds, Rs, Is and assorted minor political bodies which will leave me with a list of all registered Libertarians State wide.  I'll probably have to either compress it or put it in a few different EXCEL files (I think there is a maximum number of lines with EXCEL) or in one (hopefullY) ACCESS file.  Once I have completed the task, I will make it available to the Party.

Vance

Would it be possible to get a copy of the disk before it is scrubbed?

I don't see any reason why I can't send it.  The only thing I'll need is your mailing address (I may have it, but to be on the safe side could you send to me via e-mail?).
