By Roy Minnet and Tim Boots
LPPA members - Lancaster County

Having been without a functioning organization for several years, the LP of Lancaster County is scheduled to boot up with its first meeting on August 18th.  Lancaster County Libertarian activist Tim Boots, working with the Dauphin County Libertarian Committee will do a postcard mailing announcing the meeting to the 1,520 registered LP members in the county.

Funds are being provided by the DCLP and a matching grant from LPPA. The LPLC will meet at 6:00pm on the third Tuesday evening of each month at The Symposium Restaurant, 125 South Centerville Road, Lancaster, PA 17603.

“It’s always uplifting to interact with other Libertarians, but I hope the LPLC can be much more useful than just being enjoyable,” said Boots. “Our priority will be to actively recruit new members and to become a force in Lancaster politics, eventually running our own candidates.”

Lancaster will join neighboring York, Cumberland and Dauphin counties, all of which are currently organized.  Registered Libertarians will have resources and a support arm right in their backyard to run candidates, organized public policy events and actively engage in political forums.

Anyone who is planning to attend or would like to help with Lancaster County should advise Tim at meltimjas@verizon.net.

I'm trying to find out what paperwork needs to be done to make Lanc. official.  Also official duties for baord members, And a copy of bylaws for the party.  Now that we have had a meeting what do we do to make it official?  Thanks.

Good questions. We are in the process of reorganizing the website, so these forms should probably be made more prominent. If you go to the main page of the website, which you can do by clicking on the banner at the top of the forum, look in the upper right, under where it says "Top Menu". Click on the Org. Chart.

At the bottom of the Org. Chart page there are links to various documents, one of which is the County Documentation kit. That contains the forms to recognize a county organization as well as a board of directors representative for the county.

At least two LPPA members in good standing must sign to have the organization recognized, and it needs at least a chair and secretary for officers. Twelve members in good standing need to sign to have a board representative.

The signed forms can be faxed to the 1-800-R-RIGHTS number, or if they can be made into a .pdf or similar electronic document, emailed to secretary@lppa.org. A hard copy should also be mailed to the LPPA, 3915 Union Deposit Road #223, Harrisburg, PA 17109. That same should be done with any county constitution, bylaws, and/or platform adopted. All county affiliate organization must be compliant with the LPPA bylaws, which can also be downloaded from that section of the website.

I can email you a sample constitution and bylaws that can be modified if you like. Let me know if you have other questions.
