Hello everyone, I'm Tim Crowley from the fully staffed LPPa fundraising committee.  Today I'm going to encourage all of you to join our newest and most exciting fundraising program, the 1788 Society.

Lots of Libertarian ideas are now in the media.  John Stossel,  Drew Carey, Reason Magazine, Walter Williams who spoke at our 2004 convention, and so on.  This is all because of your generous support.

I think that I speak for all of my fellow Board members when I say that
WE do it for you.

This is an all volunteer, membership funded organization.
Everything we do is because of your generous support.

Some organizations have high salaries and high overhead.
Others have a fancy headquarters in Harrisburg or in Washington DC.

But not the LPPa.  As I said before, we are an all volunteer organization.

We've grown lately because generous supporters like you have said yes, we want this party's message to continue.

Membership is up.  County Chapters are up.  More and better press releases are going out.  This is all due to you, and we thank you.

================================

Also, no other party serves you as well as we do.

We keep you informed as to what is happening in the Liberty and Freedom Community, both here in Pennsylvania and around the world..

Without your pledge there would be nothing but silence.
You would hear the Democratic and the Republican points of view.
But you would not hear the Libertarian point of view.

You cannot take it for granted.

If you want your views represented in elections across the state, you must support our volunteers by joining the 1788 Society.

You won't hear these pro freedom views anywhere else.
We bring together people who are willing to work toward personal freedom and individual responsibility.

You get a chance to support that right now.

================================

Whether you're rich or poor, whether you wear tie-dye or a tie, whether you prefer Windows or a MAC, there is a level of giving just for you.

You can renew your membership for only $25 a year, or you can take the next step.

For only $10 a month, you can join the 1788 Society at the
Member Level.

For only about 30 cents a day, you can keep the biggest challenge to the two party monopoly going for another year.  Last year, I think we signed up 40 people to the 1788 Society.  This year, hopefully we'll sign up a few more people to this exciting new program.

================
There are actually three levels of giving in the 1788 Society.  Each level has its perks and privileges.

First is the Members Level at $120 a year.
This entitles you to A 1788 Society Membership.
Membership in the LPPa.
Your dues will never run out, if you enroll in any of our three levels.
VIP event invitations
National LP Membership.  They're the ones with the fancy offices.
And a fancy LPPa Name Badge like this one.

The next level, at $240 a year, is the Defender Level.
This entitles you to all the benefits of the Member Level, plus
An LPPa T-Shirt.

Finally, if you wish to give $500 or more per year, this is the Patriot Level.
You get all the benefits of the Member and Defender Levels, plus:
A Limited Edition 1788 Society Polo Shirt.

================================

Those are our levels of 1788 Society Membership.

Some of you have donated for the second or third  time, why don't some of you donate for the first time?  I joined at the last convention.  I only wish that the 1788 Society had been started earlier.  I personally give $120 a year in 4 easy payments of only $30.  These are paid automatically with a credit card.

Or you can pledge online at lppa .org

========================

Also, anyone who joins the 1788 Society at this convention, or who upgrades their membership to one of the higher levels will get one of these fantastic new LPPa campaign signs.

These are great at rallies and to decorate the walls at events.  If you get a group of 3 or 4 people together with a couple of these signs, you have an instant rally that attracts attention.

So if you join during this convention, you  can take home one of these LPPa Yard Signs, so that you can show your support in your neighborhood.

==================================

Give this gift to yourself. This is a gift that is there for you every day of the year.

And for those who cannot afford it, you will help share this gift with everyone else in the state who cares about personal freedom but perhaps can't afford to donate this year.

You will feel good for pledging and you will also help keep democracy alive in Pa.
There are 31,000 registered Libertarians in Pa. We would like to reach out to all of them.

For those of you who have friends at home who couldn't come to the convention, would you please take some of these 1788 Society forms and give them out at your next county meeting?

===========================

The Treasurer's report shows us how much money we need to survive for another year..... But the more you pledge, the more impact we can have.

If the party raises a mediocre amount of money, then we can expect mediocre results getting bills passed and mediocre results getting candidates elected to office.

The Libertarians that I know are a lot of things, but they are NOT mediocre.

What do YOU think the party should spend money on?  Would you like a better web site? More candidates?  More campaign signs like these?  Guaranteed ballot access?  What about libertarian clubs on campuses across the state?

As we all know, there is no such thing as a free lunch.
We can make these things happen, but only with YOUR support.

Budgeting and fundraising go hand in hand.  We all know that ballot access is our biggest challenge this year.

We would need about $5,000 to successfully bring a lawsuit against the Pa. Election Dept in August, if they challenge our signatures to get our statewide candidates on the ballot.

If we decide to go this route, we would have to raise $5,000 between now and  August.  Some of it would have to come from the 1788 Society's annual  Convention Pledge Drive.

If we get 10 people to join today at the Patriot Level, then we could credibly challenge the State Election Department with a well-funded well-written lawsuit.

With your pledge of support today, we will move that much closer to whatever goal that  we choose.

Won't you show your independent spirit by joining the 1788 Society?

You can pledge online safely and securely with visa, MC paypal and so on.  Your pledge makes it all possible.

And remember, it happens one pledge at a time.

How long does it take to process a membership? I join the 1788 Society quite some time ago and have not received anything in the mail.

FYI, the link at the top of this thread is broken for me. I get a 404 error when I click it.

Thanks.

John,

Thanks for reminding me.  I fixed it so that it should work now.
