Actually, I was surprised by how few Ron Paul supporters were actually GOP members. Not that there aren't R supporters of Ron Paul, but a good percentage come from other backgrounds, CP, LP, independent, or some others.

It seems that those who actually believe in individual liberty and limited government have been drifting away from the Rs for quite some time. There are still some left, but they have little influence on the party. I think we would be as successful getting Ds as we would Rs, and I have seen both coming to the LP in increasing numbers over the past year or so.

There were many people who changed their voter registration specifically for the purpose of voting for Ron Paul, and I think those numbers are reflected in Ron Paul's total. That is the problem with trying to change the system within the "two party" mold, any participation is counted as support for the process. The R's can now claim there is a significant portion of the party representing libertarian ideas, which is not true.

Support of those folks for Barr would be good, and many of them are supporting Barr. Paul himself is waffling between support for Baldwin or Barr. Paul has clearly said he will not support McCain. There are those in the LP who have been to Paul groups and have been promoting Barr, so it does happen. More would be better, but right now having Barr on the Pennsylvania ballot would be nice.
