I need a little help and maybe this forum can provide it. Don't worry, it's easy and takes just a few minutes.
The PA coordinator for the Barr/Root campaign asked me about radio stations in Pennsylvania. Specifically, he asked what five to ten stations would be the best for him to concentrate his efforts to get Bob Barr, Wayne Root or a spokesperson scheduled for an interview.
"Best" can mean a lot of things to different people. Let's narrow it down so these key characteristics are most important:
** Past receptiveness to libertarians, third party or independent candidates (for example, Bob Dugin's show in Harrisburg).
** Station format (news talk being better than, for example, 100% heavy metal).
** Size of listening audience (bigger is better).
If you have some suggestions for radio stations, and specific shows/hosts on those stations, please post them here.
Help to identify the most promising candidates by noting things like: the radio station call letters (KDKA, WPGH, etc.), the city where the station broadcasts (Pittsburgh, Philly, etc.) and the name of a host/show and its hours (Dugin, Quinn & Rose from 6AM to 9AM, etc.).
Who knows, but if some of these stations would be receptive to interviewing Barr/Root, maybe they would also be receptive to some of our state and local candidates. This "foot in the door" could be a benefit where having a prominent name like Barr could help us locally.
Thanks in advance.
Mark

In the northeast we have WILK at 910 Scranton, 980 Wilkes Barre and 1310 Hazleton, plus 103.1 FM. Line-up: 6 to 9am: Kevin and Nancy. Both are left-leaning types 9 to 11:45am: Sue Henry show. Probably our best bet. 11:45 to noon: Paul Harvey news 12 to 3pm: Rush Limbaugh 3 to 7pm: Steve Corbett. Former columnist at the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader. Major Hilary supporter
Then it goes back to national shows.. Savage at 7pm, O'Reilly at 10pm, Coast to Coast at midnight, and Jim Bohannon at 5am.
Dial in is 883-0098 or (800) 437-0098.

The best station I can think of is Actually in NJ. It gets a lot of callers from Bucks and Philadelphia. NJ 101.5 www.nj1015.comDennis and Judy identify as Libertarian and Libertarian Leaning respectively.

Thanks, FreeRad! I've sent your suggestion along to Barr's PA contact.

WHP 580 in Harrisburg for sure. I just called the producer of the Bob Durgin show, he's a friend. He's out until Tuesday, 9/30.
