I have really trying to get behind Barr, but I'm currently drawn to Ron Paul.  I really like Paul's economic views (not his social policy, however).

Is RP still in the race? I thought he had moved on to a new project. Even if he hadn't he made it clear he did not want to run as the candidate for the LP. So what are we to do?

Last I heard Ron Paul was organizing a separate group gathering at the convention in Minneapolis, and trying to get a couple states together to get him some speaking time at the convention.

Out of curiosity, which views of the Barr campaign are not liked?

RP has started a group that will help get RP type candidates elected, to Congress, I believe.  I'm not sure if his group will only be supporting Republicans, or if the group would support Libertarian candidates as well.

I just recently saw where Barr wanted to help bail out Fannie and Freddie.  Ron Paul stuck to his guns and said there should be no bail out...

Where did you see that?  I have only seen the opposite.

I have seen a lengthy debate on the Outright Libertarians boards about Barr versus Paul.  Although I was once for Paul, it seems that Barr's position on LGBT issues and repealing the Defense of Marriage Act is much more in keeping with the LP platform than Paul's is.

Currently I would not trade Barr for Paul.  No.  I'm finding him more strictly Libertarian than Paul.  And if this is due to Bob Barr finally getting the message, rather than shilling it, I am even more pleased.

Have you seen his testimony on Executive power before the Judiciary Committee?

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=90071334195CF550

I've watched all his vids on the BobBarr2008 youtube channel.  I'm impressed.  I believe his conversion is sincere.

I don't think he would ever go as far as I would (minarchist, leaning toward anarcho-capitalist), a Bob Barr presidency would be REVOLUTIONARY.

Unfortunately, I can't find the link.  I remember reading online that Barr thought Freddie and Fannie (sp?) be helped out.  I thought he said something to the effect of disagreeing with a bailout but there was no way to let these two companies go without any help.

I'm pleasantly surprised that I seem to be wrong.  But, he does seem to be saying that they should get some temporary help, just not long term help and they need to be restructured.  Maybe that is what the original article was saying.

This is what you are looking for:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,382881,00.html

I think this was linked on this forum by someone else but I had to do a quick google to find it.

The idea that it could be agreed to is a bit troubling. He is still far superior to everyone else running. I can't remember the last time we had a politician running for any office I agreed with 100%. (because I never have) I am not sure that there is anyone in this forum that I could say I agreed with 100%.

The question I have to ask is, is he going to move this country back on the right course or is he going to further destroy it? I still feel he is the only candidate that will even try to move this country back in the right direction.

I know that if Ron Paul walked into the convention (LP) he would have easily had won.  Barr is doing a great job in my opinion and got in the race after he was 1oo percent certain RP was not going to show up.
