I have concluded that the average American does not understand this. Why not focus on the obvious. IE Debt, war, inflation, loss of liberty.

(1) opednews? GMAB. That should be called conspiracy nut news.
(2) I am not convinced. read Title 26 US Code and then tell me there's no law.
(3) All these anti-tax arguments that rest on technicalities are DUMB. If you want to argue against income and payroll taxes, try this:
a. the government doesn't need income tax, it only covers a small part of the government's budget and we could easily cut spending to accommodate its loss.
b. payroll taxes go to pay off the ponzi schemes called social security and medicare. In order to provide the benefits promised we need $53 trillion + in the bank today and earning interest. But we've got negative $10 trillion in the bank. And even if we raised taxes we could never raise them enough to make up the shortfall. These endless entitlements need to be eliminated ASAP, with brief transition plans for the most dependent.
c. the government has no right to force me to pay for their wars and pork barrels and what not. My hard-earned cash is mine and taking it away is an initiation of force. It's morally wrong.
d. the IRS is evil. It's hard to comply with. It's a stupid way to pay for government. And politicians use the IRS to cause problems for their opponents.

This notion has been refuted, and your chances of getting away with it are pretty darned slim. In the one successful case cited in that video "Freedom to Fascism", the guy got off because of Jury Nullification. Good luck with that. While I belive 100% in Jury Nullification, and that it was indeed the intention of the Founders that it exist, good luck finding 12 randomly chosen sheeple to go along with it.
