Here is a repost on the New Gun Ban in DC

The city of Washington, D.C. has a problem with crime.  Our collective hearts and sympathies go out to the innocent victims of all crimes.  However, Washington, D.C., after being reprimanded for denying the rights of individual citizens to keep and bears arms in the Heller case, is pursing another “enforcement” measure which will soon be challenged, and defeated in court.

In a blatant disregard for the Supreme Court’s decision with regard to the Heller case, D.C. is now pursuing a registration law that will surely be struck down, and is as appalling as it is obvious a complete thumbing of the nose for the justice system in general and the Bill Rights in particular.

D.C. police will start the gun registration process at 7 a.m. tomorrow, when it opens an office at police headquarters at 300 Indiana Ave. NW.

It is the start of the 180-day amnesty period in which residents may register handguns they have had illegally, or guns from other states.

An officer from the gun unit will meet the applicant at the door and take temporary possession of the gun to ensure safety at headquarters.

Officers will tag the gun and run ballistics tests before returning it to the owner. Paperwork indicating that registration is in process will be provided.

About 14 days later, after an FBI background check, the gun will be officially registered.

Shockingly, this should be killed for violating two Amendments to the Constitution.  The Second and the Fourth.  It will not take long for this horrible “law” to be struck down, but in the meantime, it is truly scary that people will actually be handing over one of their rights in violation of another under threat of police action for having violated no law as the real criminals are plaguing the city.

Does the Constitution apply to Washington DC?
