Did that subject line get you excited or what?! Wink

We all spend great time and money to the cause of Libertarinism. Not because we crave power over our fellow man, but rather to redistribute that power back to him. Because we believe in the words that our founders set in paper over 200 years ago were visionary.

And to execute that vision, that thirst for freedom we need a plan d'attaque, a unification of our scattered collective into a precise focused beam of advocacy.

The one major strength other than this party's passion is it's human resources. Look at the melanger of experience in our executive board. I myself have been everywhere from the Marine Corps to Radio and Television (entertainment & media side of the house) to Consulting to Business Owner,  etc.

We need to quit talking and start informing the general public. We need to extend it beyond local chapter meetings. We need to be more visible at public events and hitting every move Harrisburg makes with press releases and statements to the news media (which I commend the Pittsburgh chapter for their rabid engagement of the editors across the city). They might not respond at first but eventually they will get curious (trust me on this one).

The squeaky wheel gets the oil and if we are not out there activly engaging the constituency and calling the government on their monopoly of the ballots we will be spinning our wheels in third. ABOVE ALL we need to be distiguishing our policies and offering solutions rather than just criticism.

I know this is easier said than done, but too often people look at me with that blank stare when I say "Libertarian". Which drives me crazy when they are spouting off libertarian ideas and values and then question why the Demo-cans can't be more like them.

We own the majority they just don't know it yet.

Please reply with suggestions and perhaps we can start a discussion how we can better serve this country as libertarians.

Sgt Miller-
I'm in the process of getting video and text blogging set up over at

georgetaylorfoundation.spaces.live.com

It will be a blog and will include video that will be uploaded to You Tube and can help citizens and candidates to voice their opinions.  I'm in the early stages of this and have simply set up the site and haven't done to much else as of yet.  But, I hope to evolve this and get people involved in it, have them write articles, post videos to link, etc.  I think this can be helpful.  If you have any suggestions or want to help me out I'd greatly appreciate it.  I'm down to help out.  Thanks.

Sgt Miller-

Whatever type of article you want to write, I'll put it up, its going to be ongoing.  The main focus is going to be lower taxes, individual freedom, personal responsibility, reform, open government, cutting deficits, balancing budgets, etc.  Where is that even your doing at?  That's definitely a large event.

Sgt. Miller,

As one of those Pittsburgh LP chapter members who practice “rabid engagement” of editors across the Pittsburgh area, I sincerely say “Thank You!”  You made my day.

While I wouldn’t call the LTE approach “knee-capping the competition,” I think that a better metaphor for LTEs might be the relentless, endless drip of “Chinese water torture on the competition.”  (Yet to libertarian-leaning folks, it’s gentle, reassuring irrigation that reminds them that they’re not alone.  Metaphors are fun.)

Yes, editors do read this stuff and take note, but so does the public.  Just two or three years ago, my parents (also in Pittsburgh) got a Christmas card from old friends. At the bottom of the card they wrote a PS that said something like, “Tell you son, Mark, to keep writing.”  They made my day, too.

I’m just saying that advocacy doesn’t have to be hard and doesn’t have to hurt.  Just find something that you’re good at and find a way to do it without a lot of effort and while having a little bit of fun.  Staffing at a booth at a gun show or at Fort Ligonier Days while passing out literature might win hands down in all categories.

Rabidly engaged,

Mark

As a former news guy I can tell you we loved to hate you guys. I think you guys are doing a great job and I have read some of your published stuff (not just the yahoo group postings). Very thoughtful, insightful and well crafted (by the way Harold Kyriazi gets mad props too.)

I'm excited with the low approval ratings and we need to hit 'em hard, hit 'em fast and we need to rub their stinky political socks right in their faces. I'm by no means a radical. I usually like to observe and I have for several years. I make it a point to stay out of things, but not now. We can't let this one pass us by.

Now is the time.

oh and Mark keep pursuing the truth with extreme prejudice!

We need Sgt. Miller to get a couple draft press releases started. He sounds like a great fit with the media relations committee. We have a target rich environment right now. We could be doing a release every day.

Sgt Miller-
the email address for the site I set up is

thegeorgetaylorfoundation@live.com

I'll be posting up a summary of Geroge Taylor and the ideas behind this creation in the next day or so as well as the first blog.  I'm hoping that submissions will be accompanied by names and locations as well.  Sort of like an editorial board of concerned citizens.  Time to roll!
