I got an alert (below) that the PA Senate’s Communications and Technology Committee will have a hearing on it REAL ID bill S.B. 1220 tomorrow (Wednesday, June 25, 2008). I should say its bill to reject REAL ID.
If any of your state senators are on this committee, please take a few moments to call or at least email them. Urge them to get this bill out of committee and on to the floor for debate. And urge them to support this bill and to reject REAL ID in PA.

State coordinators should come to the call prepared to give us updates on their week’s activities; and activists will want to take notes on how to make things work in their neighborhoods as well.
We typically have special guest speakers, drill down on current state & national legislative affairs, and train our leading activists via this outlet. Guest speakers recently have included several state legislators, and many other articulate teachers and activists on the local, state and national scene.
On tonight’s conference call we will be discussing “debunking” 911 myths supporting the so-called “need” for more secure Identification documents under the “Real ID Act of 2005” and the strategies going into STATE battles designed to STOP the commandeering of state internal licensing (drivers) for these “International” ID Cards. Action is occurring in numerous states, and the feds (DHS) JUST ANNOUNCED NEW GRANTS TO BEEF UP “SECURITY” OF DRIVER’S LICENSES!
This is our combined National (NVCCA) and Mid-Atlantic Regional (RTR/AFTF) conference call for state action.
PA action is HIGH right now, with a meaningless bill moving through the State House, and the BEST bill (SB 1220) slated for a hearing TOMORROW in the State Senate. All PA patriots should try to be in Harrisburg for this hearing! Call (or visit) your Senators, and tell them to vote YES on SB 1220. (Particularly those in the Communications & Technology Committee who are hearing the bill first. Gotta get it out of committee before the entire Senate can hear it!)
