I've been at this third party thing for only a few weeks and already I've heard from libertarians that we have to vote for Mc Cain so Obama doesn't win. Honestly now, what on a practical level do you see happening differently with Mc Cain as opposed to Obama?

I say it's time for all Women and Men to stand up and vote their conscience!

Usually I see people falling for the lesser of two evils arguments.  I see them getting caught up in the hype about their third party vote causing one of the lesser major party evils winning.  This year, is different.  I see people saying they can't bring themselves to vote for McCain or Obama, so even the lesser of the evils is unacceptable.  I sure hope we are able to capitalize on that.

My suggestion for addressing the "lesser of two evils" argument in 2008 is to ask someone how well the "lesser of two evils" solution worked in 2000 and 2004.

McCain is by miles better than Obama.  Obama is an isolationist, is going to raise taxes, has opposed free trade agreements, and will assurredly grow government in what will make the last 8 years look like childs play.  Many of his supporters have Che posters and T shirts hanging next to his picture, which is a huge insult to our nation.  Take a look at this link too, and how horrible it is that a US judge would have this in his office.

Caomhin,

Seriously, can you be more specific about practical differences? Remember that Mc Cain would have probably a veto proof majority of Democrats in the House and Senate, and his hallmark is reaching across the aisle.

Can you be specific about what you mean by the term "isolationist"?  Also, both McCain AND Obama have pledged to lower taxes albeit in a slightly different manner.  The Republicans under Bush have grown Gov considerably as well.  It won't change under McSame.

I suspect there might be a few "gotta vote McCain to stop Obama" folks out there.  I can't name any, and I doubt they are the type who would read and post on an LP forum.  But I'd bet there will be a few who wind up doing that.

Do you know of any that would vote for Obama?  Both choices leave me feeling frightened for my kids.

Obama's plan to "lower taxes" is only for certain brackets and he's already got a vote on record for retaining lower rates for those making 31,850 a year or less.  Anyone who thinks 31,851 is "rich" is entirely too out of touch.  His spending plans show just how far he's going to grow the government.  In terms of isolationism, anyone who is going on record and has voted against free trade agreements and is seeking to do away with them falls solidly in that arena.  Free trade is one of the greatest liberties that people can enjoy and bring a higher level of prosperity to both participants.  Access to new goods for consumers, new markets for producers and higher levels of competition are essential to capitalism and a healthy, free market.  Agreed that the government grew infamously large and bloated over the last few years, you'll hear no argument from me.  However, McCain is better than Obama if you're comparing the two head to head.  I understand your points, though. I'm going to throw up a new topic on what happened in Oklahoma to get feedback on it.

I remember when slick willie ran, he kept saying "middle class tax cut" over and over.  I compared the tax schedules the next year.  If your gross adjusted income was ~ $18,000, your taxes went UP.

This was the same election that GB senior lost after promising "no new taxes" and failing to deliver.

In my book, ANY politician running for office who says they will lower taxes is a LIAR until proven otherwise.

Funny how McCain is all of a sudden gone nuclear.  He must have been reading my posts.   Grin

Nuclear is going to be a huge one for us.  We most definitely need a strong drive to nuclear.  I also saw today that Honda is going to be rolling out the hydrogen vehicle in California starting next year, another promising technology.  Here in the Lehigh Valley, Air Products is dablling in this realm, and I understand there's alot of work being done at Penn State with regard to this as well.
