As a resident of West Shore School District this new policy is infuriating. Now they want the taxpayer has to fund random drug testing?

The West Shore School District voted 6-3 Tuesday evening to move toward the creation of a random drug testing policy for students which, if approved, could take affect in the 2008-09 school year.
Board members Sharon Shope, Frank Kambic and Anthony Tezik voted against the proposal.
Shope said she felt the policy was flawed because it did not test for steroids.
"They said they won't do steroids because of the cost," Shope said after the meeting. "And that's one of the main reasons to do drug testing."
Though a draft policy was presented, several board members, including Tezik, said he'd hoped it would more clearly spell out that the first offense would not necessarily result in punishment.
"Students make mistakes," Tezik said.
Administrators said the particulars of the policy remain under review, but should come together in time for the testing of fall athletes.
