Title: Folmer Intorduces VCA
Post by: djahn on August 02, 2008, 08:19:01 am
On July 24th, PA State Senator Mike Folmer introduced the Voters Choice Act (VCA) into the state senate.  He posted a press release (http://www.senatorfolmer.com/press-2008/072408.htm) regarding the VCA and why he introduced it on his web site (http://www.senatorfolmer.com/)

Some of you may not be aware that we have been working with other political parties for years through the PA Ballot Access Coalition (http://www.paballotaccess.org/).  The VCA was written by Ken Krawchuk and me after much research and discussion amongst group members.  If is modelled after more favorable election laws like those in the state of Delaware.

There is a white paper (http://www.paballotaccess.org/Voters%20Choice%20Act%20White%20Paper.pdf) that is a good read explaining the history of election laws and some of the problems in our state that is posted on the coalition web site.

I see today that the Lebanon Daily News (http://www.ldnews.com/) has written a supportive editorial (http://www.ldnews.com/opinion/ci_10067637) on the topic.

I'm wondering if any of you would be interested in helping us meet with state legislators to identify who will and won't support this act.

It is a good editorial. We need more like it. Lots more.
