Walter Williams has a townhall.com piece about a resolution in the Oklahoma legislature.  This is a resolution, kinda like a statement not a law, but it has a point.  Here are the link and the operative words:

"Whereas, the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States reads as follows: 'The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.'; and Whereas, the Tenth Amendment defines the total scope of federal power as being that specifically granted by the Constitution of the United States and no more; and whereas, the scope of power defined by the Tenth Amendment means that the federal government was created by the states specifically to be an agent of the states; and Whereas, today, in 2008, the states are demonstrably treated as agents of the federal government. … Now, therefore, be it resolved by the House of Representatives and the Senate of the 2nd session of the 51st Oklahoma Legislature: that the State of Oklahoma hereby claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States. That this serve as Notice and Demand to the federal government, as our agent, to cease and desist, effective immediately, mandates that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated powers."  

It seems that the federal government isn't too popular in some parts. 

If we're going to reclaim the country, the states will have to step up to the task.

Dr Williams is great. I always enjoy his work.

Can we get a version of this introduced in the PA General Assembly? Goofballs running for cover from the scandals may like a little diversion like this.

I would settle for the legislature just passing legislation opposing REAL ID in PA. The bills have already been introduced and they sit in their respective committees.  Stopping REAL ID would be a big first step from which to build.  I'm hoping that the Bonusgate scandal doesn't cause the legislature to freeze. 

If, however, they're actually looking for a diversion from Bonusgate, why not the anti- REAL ID bills HR1351 or SB1220?  Rejecting REAL ID in PA, would be a big deal and might draw some attention on matters beyond PA.

I have to agree with Mark.  Our piority right now should be the RealID.  Along with that, we should be using bonusgate to shame them into doing something about ballot access in this state.

After that, I hope to begin work on a nationwide secession movement. The Oklahoma resolution doesn't go far enough to satisfy me.  We need every state passing a strongly worded resolution that hammers the feds for ignoring the consitution that commands the federal government's retreat to within its consitutioinal limits.
