Title: Philly pushes a law they KNOW is Unconstitutional Post by: caomhin10p on July 10, 2008, 01:22:49 am Unbelievable. How can they punish citizens who have done nothing wrong for the actions of criminal thugs? This is deeply disturbing being that the DA knows its unconstitutional, they are penalizing law abiding citizens, and have no regard for the fact that people have to deal with identity theft issues before they get around to checking out material items. I fail to see the logic here whatsoever. Does this simply mean that the Democrats' Political Machine in Philly could care less about the Constitution, Individual Rights, and the Law in general? I read the posts about the tour guide issues as well, so what gives in Philly? Is Nutter possibly WORSE than John Street?

The Philly legislators were the ones that sponsored the bill (and almost every other gun law). Philly has been imposing bullshit regulations about guns forever. I think they even tried one time to state that the carry permits of other counties were not valid in the city. Its really laughable and they will most certainly lose any challenges of this law. Notice that it is a fine. This is just a revenue generator for the city. It isn't really created to contain or prevent crime. It is simply a tax.
And somehow I knew the wording of the DC Gun Ban decision was going to come back to haunt us... Title: Re: Philly pushes a law they KNOW is Unconstitutional Post by: JohnKOTR on July 10, 2008, 09:57:22 am Philadelphia is a festering pile of shit and it pisses me off to no end that between that wretched city and Pittsburgh, that is where most of the political power and favor lays in the State of Pennsylvania. Perhaps, once Ed Rendell is out of office, we'll get a chance to have a Governor who is Governor of the whole state, not just the two cities.

Not unless the center of the state can come to a concensus on someone that is not a friend of those two regions.
