Title: “Government is Driving Mass Adoption of Identity Solutions”
Post by: mark.d.crowley on July 07, 2008, 07:29:07 pm
Let me share a little something I found about REAL ID and where it's headed that you all might find interesting.

The concern is that with government controlling REAL ID, the card’s ID function can be disabled, thus canceling all the functions tied into the card.  Right now, that seems to be just your driver’s license, but that’s certainly enough.  Imagine trying to buy a gun before the next “Katrina” and some state or federal bureaucrat decides that you shouldn’t.

You’ve also seen reports that the goal of REAL ID is to turn your driver’s license into a “smart card.”  As such your driver’s license card can be programmed to be your bank card, ATM card, insurance cards, shopping card, internal passport, travel card, work ID card, student ID card and even private membership card.  Imagine having to swipe your card to do banking, visit the doctor, go grocery shopping, even to stop to watch your kid’s swim practice because the government wants this to happen on a mass scale.

Is this the ranting of some nutcase blogger?

No.  It's the investor presentaton for L-1 Solutions, PA's REAL ID vendor.

Check out this link below to L-1’s investor presentation.  Look at page 22 and 23.  Note in particular the title of page 22.  I’ll share it here:  “Government is Driving Mass Adoption of Identity Solutions.”  What doesn't "mass adoption" cover?

Any questions?

The more I read about this the more opposed I am to it.  Not just from the governments aspect, but I work in an industry that unfortunately has to deal with a great deal of identity theft.  The current system is a nightmare when even one aspect of your personal information is taken, this would an absolute nightmare.  Additionally, I do believe strongly that this a violation of the 10th Amendment.

Amendments don't matter when we are terrorized by the terror of terrorism.
